- Investment Professionals
- Oliver Haarmann
Prior to co-founding Searchlight, Oliver was a Partner at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.L.P. ("KKR"), based in London. He helped build out KKR's European operations, oversaw the communications and media industry efforts and played a leading role in a number of successful investments. Before joining KKR, Oliver worked for various firms in the investment industry in the US and Europe. Oliver graduated from Brown University with a dual BA degree in History and International Relations, and completed his MBA at the Harvard Business School.
- Erol Uzumeri
Prior to co-founding Searchlight, Erol led the global private equity business of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan ("OTPP"), where he oversaw a large investment portfolio and a team of investment professionals with offices in Toronto, London and New York. Erol oversaw, led or was involved with a number of OTPP’s most significant direct investments in North America and Europe and led the establishment of several newly-formed private equity firms. Before joining OTPP, Erol worked at CVC International and Citigroup in London, New York and Toronto. Erol received a BASc in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto, an MSc in Finance from London Business School and is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
- Eric Zinterhofer
Prior to co-founding Searchlight, Eric was co-head of the media and telecommunications investment platform at Apollo Management, L.P. ("Apollo"). He was a leader in Apollo’s private equity/distressed debt-for-control effort and was involved in the initial hiring and building of its commodities investing platform. He played a key role at Apollo in initiating/leading investments in a range of cable, satellite, and wireless providers and operators in North America, Europe and India. Before joining Apollo, Eric held positions at Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan. Eric received a dual degree in Honors Economics and European History from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed his MBA at Harvard Business School.
- François Dekker
Prior to joining Searchlight in 2011, Mr. Dekker worked as a Principal at Bain Capital in London where he worked primarily on investments in the consumer, services and industrial sectors. He started his career in investment banking at Morgan Stanley in London in 1999 in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department. Mr. Dekker received an MSc in Business Administration and Economics from the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Switzerland.
- Andrew Frey
Prior to joining Searchlight in 2011, Mr. Frey worked as a Managing Principal at Quadrangle Group in New York where he primarily focused on telecommunications and technology investments. He also held positions at TPG Capital in London and Blackstone in New York. He started his career at Lehman Brothers in New York in 1997 as an Analyst in the media and communications group. Mr. Frey received a BS in Finance and BAS in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
- Darren Glatt
Prior to joining Searchlight in 2013, Mr. Glatt worked as a Partner in the Private Equity Group at Apollo Management, L.P., in New York where he focused on both equity and credit investing in a range of industries that included TMT, Consumer, Leisure and Shipping, among others. Mr. Glatt also held positions at Apax Partners and The Cypress Group. He started his career at Bear Stearns in 1998 in New York. Mr. Glatt received a BS from The George Washington University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Prior to joining Searchlight in 2011, Mr. Sondag worked as a Vice President at GTCR Golder Rauner in Chicago, where he worked primarily on investments in the media, information services and consumer industries. He started his career in investment banking at Wasserstein Perella in Chicago in 1998. Mr. Sondag received a BSc from Georgetown University, and completed the Executive Management Program at INSEAD in Singapore.

Prior to joining Searchlight in 2011, Mr. Austin worked at Morgan Stanley in New York, where he worked on buy side and sell side M&A assignments. He started his career in the Restructuring group at Rothschild in New York, where he worked on a variety of debtor-side advisory assignments. Mr. Austin received a BA from Bates College.

Prior to joining Searchlight in 2012, Mr. Bacal worked as an Associate at The Catalyst Capital Group in Toronto, where he worked on distressed debt investments and special situations across various industries. He started his career in investment banking at Credit Suisse in London. Mr. Bacal received an HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
- Christopher Cruz
Prior to joining Searchlight in 2010, Mr. Cruz worked as a Senior Associate at Oaktree Capital Management in Los Angeles, where he was part of the Global Principal control investing strategy focused on distressed debt for control and private equity investments. He started his career in leveraged finance and restructuring advisory at UBS Investment Bank in San Francisco. Mr. Cruz received an HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

Prior to joining Searchlight in 2012, Mr. Porciani worked in the Private Equity group at Blackstone in London, where he was primarily involved in investments in the Consumer, Industrials and TMT industries with a focus on Southern Europe, Germany and Latin America. He started his career in investment banking at Credit Suisse in London. Mr. Porciani received a BSc from the European Business School (EBS), Germany, and Argentine Business University (UADE), Argentina.
- Marion Rabate
Prior to joining Searchlight in 2011, Ms. Rabate worked as an Associate in the Goldman Sachs Special Situations Group in London, where she made investments across the capital structure in a number of strategies including secondary debt investing, direct lending and mid-cap private equity. Ms. Rabate received an MEng and MSc from the Ecole des Mines de Paris, France.

Prior to joining Searchlight in 2011, Mr. Reiss worked as an Associate at Silver Lake Partners in Menlo Park where he focused on investments in the software and online services sectors. Previously, he worked in the Financial Institutions Group in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York. Mr. Reiss received a B.B.A. from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.

Prior to joining Searchlight in 2012, Ms. Roach worked as an Associate at the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan in Toronto, where she worked primarily on investments in the media, technology, and consumer industries. She started her career in transaction advisory and assurance services at KPMG in Toronto. Ms. Roach received a BComm from Queen's University, and an MBA from the University of Oxford. She is a CA.

- Gonzalo Diaz-Rato
Prior to joining Searchlight, Mr. Diaz-Rato was a Partner at Gala Fund Management and a Founder of Suala Capital Partners, both Spain-focused private equity funds. Before this, he was responsible for Credit Suisse First Boston's corporate finance activities in Spain. Mr. Diaz-Rato received a BA and BSc from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Prior to joining Searchlight, Mr. Ring was Senior Vice President, Business Development at H.J. Heinz Company. At Heinz, Mr. Ring successfully led the global expansion of the business in developed and emerging markets, while realigning the product portfolio against core competencies. Before joining Heinz, Mr. Ring was Business Unit Director at M&M/Mars and held various marketing and financial positions at General Foods. Mr. Ring received a BS and MS from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Prior to joining Searchlight, Mr. Zappaterra worked as a Senior Principal at Apollo in London where he focused on investments in the consumer and TMT industries. He also held positions at Silver Point Capital in London, Lion Capital in London and JP Morgan Partners/The Beacon Group LLC in New York. He started his career at Wolfensohn & Co. in New York in 1996. Mr. Zappaterra received a BA and BS from the University of California, San Diego, and an MBA from Stanford Business School.

- John Yantsulis
Chief Financial Officer
Prior to joining Searchlight in 2010, Mr. Yantsulis worked as a CFO at Reservoir Capital in New York, where he enhanced the infrastructure and internal controls to create efficiencies within the finance and operations functions and established the fair valuation function. Prior to that, he held progressive roles leading to Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York and George Town, CI in the Assurance and Advisory Practice working with North American and European alternative asset managers. He started his career at Grant Thornton in Montreal, focusing on a range of industries that included TMT, Financial Services and Heavy Industry, among others. Mr. Yantsulis received a BSc and Grad. DPA (CA) from McGill University. He is a Canadian CPA, CA, a US CPA and CFA.
- Nadir Nurmohamed
Prior to joining Searchlight in 2014, Mr. Nurmohamed worked as an Associate at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP in Toronto where he focused on M&A and corporate finance transactions. Previously, he worked in the M&A group at Shearman & Sterling LLP in New York. Mr. Nurmohamed received a BA from McGill University, and a JD from the University of Toronto. Mr. Nurmohamed has been admitted to the Ontario and New York Bar.

Prior to joining Searchlight in 2012, Ms. Melchior worked as an Associate in the Lazard Private Fund Advisory Group in New York where she assisted in the capital raising for private equity funds. Ms. Melchior received a BA from William Smith College.
- Mindy Liu
Prior to joining Searchlight in 2012, Ms. Liu worked as a Vice President, Finance at EdgeStone Capital Partners in Toronto, and as an Analyst at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Toronto. She started her career at Merrill Lynch HSBC Canada Inc in Toronto. Ms. Liu received a BA from York University, and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business.

Prior to joining Searchlight in 2011, Ms. Gospodinova worked as a Business Analyst at Vale in Toronto. She started her career at KPMG in Bulgaria. Ms. Gospodinova received a BA from the Sofia University and is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and member of the Certified General Accountants of Ontario (CGA).

Prior to joining Searchlight in 2013, Mr. Hai worked as an Audit Senior Manager at Ernst & Young in San Francisco, and a Fund Accountant at Francisco Partners in San Francisco. He started his career at Deloitte in Windsor, Ontario. Mr. Hai received a BComm from the University of Windsor. He is a CA and CPA.
